Andrew Cheney came to Stetson in January 2021 from Coastal Carolina University where he spent two years as an Intern Athletic Trainer with the Chanticleer football and beach volleyball teams. He was a part of the Sun Belt Co-champion, and undefeated regular season, CCU football team in 2020.
In, 2018, Andrew spent six weeks as a Summer Intern Athletic Trainer with the Seattle Seahawks, working training camp and the preseason.
A native of Mountain Home, Idaho, Cheney completed his undergraduate education at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash. He received two Bachelor of Science degrees at EWU, one in Athletic Training and the other in Exercise Science. During his studies, he worked as an Athletic Training Student, mainly with the football and women’s soccer programs. He was a part of EWU’s Football Big Sky Championship in 2017.
He completed his graduate studies at South Dakota State University in 2019, receiving a Master's of Science in Sport and Recreation Administration. He was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at SDSU working with football his first year and track and field and cross country his second year.
Cheney is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer who is licensed in Florida. He is Rocktape Functional, Movement Technique Basic/Performance Certified, KAATSU Blood Flow Restriction Certified, IDEA Training Fascia for Function Certified, CPR/AED Certified and is an IASTM Practitioner.
Cheney works with the Hatters’ football and men’s tennis teams. He and his wife, the former Julianna Johnson a native of Olympia, Wash., reside in DeLand.
