Tim Miesmer joined the Stetson Athletics Department in April of 2019 and serves as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Hatters.
 
Miesmer, a native of Miami, Fla., comes to Stetson from Eastern Kentucky University where he had served as Associate Athletic Trainer since 2014. During his time at EKU he served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Colonels’ football program while also serving as the athletic trainer for the cheer and dance teams.
 
In addition to his direct oversight of football, Miesmer was the primary liaison between EKU and area physicians and surgical services. He oversaw the department’s operating budget and compliance efforts and oversaw a staff of graduate assistant and student assistant athletic trainers.
 
Prior to his time at EKU, Miesmer spent two years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Tusculum College where he served as the primary athletic trainer for the men’s basketball program and as the secondary athletic trainer for football and men’s and women’s cross country.
 
A 2007 graduate of the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Athletic Training, Miesmer attended Valdosta State University where he worked as a graduate assistant from 2007-09. During his time at VSU he served as the primary athletic trainer for softball, volleyball and women’s basketball while also assisting with football.
 
After receiving his M.Ed. in Health and Physical Education from Valdosta State, Miesmer spent a year as an athletic training intern with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before moving on to Piedmont College, where he served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2010-12.
 
During his career as an athletic trainer, Miesmer has attended the Andrews’ Institute Injuries in Football Conference, has coordinated a Blood Flow Restriction certification course and has utilized Biodez and Cybex Isokinetic testing systems as well as Dexa Scan testing for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
 
In addition to his duties as an athletic trainer he has served as a course instructor in the athletic training programs at Valdosta State, Tusculum and Eastern Kentucky.
 
Miesmer is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, the Southeast Athletic Trainer’s Association and the Kentucky Athletic Trainer’s Society. He is NATA Board Certified in addition to being certified as a BLS Provider by the American Red Cross. He is also certified in the Graston Technique and in Blood Flow Restriction Therapy.
 
Miesmer and his wife, Jessica, have a son, Harrison. He enjoys playing golf and fishing in his spare time.
